Fruit Tones announce sophomore album, ‘Pink Wafer Factory’
Out November 2022 - Alien Snatch! Records & Fuzzkill Records
“The full on energy of The Stooges, the sass of New York Dolls and
that old school DIY punk approach, this is a band free from the
constraints of the music industry” - SHINDIG! Magazine
“They could steal the show from any headliner” - Louder than War

Fruit Tones are back! Ripe & ready to roll again with their self-recorded
sophomore LP 'Pink Wafer Factory' dropping November 2022 on Alien
Snatch! Records (Berlin) and Fuzzkill Records cassette.
Self recorded, produced and mixed in their Manchester practice room during covid lockdowns and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring) ‘Pink Wafer Factory’ is the highly anticipated result of over a years worth of isolated jiving, collective commitment to “keeping on chooglin” and an unstoppable love for timeless rock n roll.

The first album optimism makes way for a more mature, fully developed piece of work and brings their tongue-in-cheek, born-to-lose sass right to forefront.
“I’m sick and tired of waking up, so I don’t go to bed” they chant on “I’ll Be Glad”, whilst slowing things down to jam over that deep fried ‘Loaded’ era VU choogle. “It’s about doing what you love despite the odds being stacked against you, knowing you’ll be happy even if it’s a complete failure” says band leader Tom Harrison.

Lead single, 'Back In The Night (Again)’ is Fruit Tones doing what they do best - the steam-rollin-mondo-garage-thud, ripping bass, blown-out early rock & roll licks, their now legendary playful stop-starts and that vocal howl backed up by gang choruses from drummer Tomas Walmsley and bassist CJ Wood.

“Recording it ourselves and having so much free time with no work or shows meant we could spend a lot more time developing the songs than we have in the past” says Harrison, “we tried to take each one as far as we could and make the record a more diverse listen.” The fierce garage punk attitude is still there but alongside ‘Joe Meek does doo-wop’ inspired 50’s swooner ‘Space Angel’ and full budget-rock ‘Stones in exile’ production on ‘Before It Melts’, with Harrison roping in his little sister to add blaring sax and honky tonk piano parts.

The albums namesake, 'Pink Wafer Factory’ pays homage to their industrial heritage and turns the monotony of the daily grind into a pink wafer knees up under the disco ball down the local social club, the ghosts of the factory floor echoing behind them.

Once again there’s nothing artificial - this is the real deal. Real music played by real people for real reasons. No budget. No gimmicks. No nothing. They’re the kind of guys The Shangri-La’s sing about - true professional amateurs, plucking the ripest fruits from their early rock & roll, garage, punk influences but this time adding an integrity all of their own, this time they come out playing like they invented it all.

True rock & roll takes the mundane and turns it into something exotic, this is what Fruit Tones understand - they don’t pretend you’ve never heard rock & roll music before - they remind you why you need it in your life.

Ask for a good time, I give you Fruit Tones - the hit that won't quit.
